The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown, will host a special celebration of "A Downton Abbey Christmas" at 1 p.m. Dec. 17.
For six years, America tuned into the drama series "Downton Abbey" to learn about the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants and friends.Set in the years from just before World War I through the 1920s, "Downton Abbey" reflected an era of dramatic change and upheaval. This slide-lecture will feature a glimpse of Christmas in the 1920s, much as the hit series has done.Through visuals and sound, attendees will be immersed in the culture, music and foods of Christmas at "Downton Abbey." Participants can even enjoy coffee, tea and a special fresh treat from the "Downton Abbey" cookbook.Preregistration and prepayment are required to attend. Call Alyce Templeton at 610-435-1974, ext. 14 to register. The program is free to members, $10 for nonmember adults and $5 for nonmember children. For more information, visit the museum on Facebook or at
