Pines celebrates the silver screen

The Pines Dinner Theatre, 448 N. 17th St., Allentown, will salute the Golden Age of Movies with "Puttin' On The Ritz," which opens Friday and runs through July 2.

Featuring all of the songs and dances synonymous with classic films, this show will delight all ages as it showcases and celebrates the golden ages of movies.The performance explores the silver screen with everything from silent films and Charlie Chaplin, the songs that made us fall in love, the great movies stars such as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers as they danced their way into our hearts, a celebration of the great patriotic songs that embraced America in the early 1920s and more."Puttin' On The Ritz" is written by and under the direction of longtime artistic director and co-producer of the Pines, Oliver Blatt, and musical direction of Stacy Bechtel. This revue stars Monica Handwerk, Dante Hill, Taylor Hopkins and Katherine Tabisz, and features over 40 tunes with four-part harmonies, solos, tap numbers as well as a live band on stage.The theater is also honoring servicemen and women, both veterans and currently serving, with a free ticket for dinner and the show. Tickets are available for all performances taking place Friday through Sunday, and again June 28 through July 2. Any member of the armed forces with military ID, is eligible.
