Alicia Silliman, left, accepts the Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) from Liz McElwee, first vice president of the West Penn Lions Club. The MJF, sponsored by the Palmerton Lions Club, is the highest honor that Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) bestows, recognizing an individual's dedication to humanitarian service. It is not an award in the tradition of Lions awards presented for specific accomplishments, but an honor, recognizing an individual's humanitarian qualities such as generosity, compassion, and concern for the less fortunate. The fellowship, which was created in 1973, takes its name from LCI founder Melvin Jones.
