Steve "Murph" Murphy, a resident of Jim Thorpe, was recently inducted into the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.
Murphy,whose roots go back to Delaware County in Pennsylvania, was honored along with other members of Penn Del Over-50 Modified Softball League for it's excellence for the years 2003-2014.Murphy played from 2003 to 2006 while many of the inductees played before that period of time up until 2014. They were all acknowledged as 2017 Degenstein Award Wall of Honor Recipients."These guys were all influential in the success of amateur softball in Delaware County from the 70s up until this day," said Murphy about his fellow inductees. "A lot of different players contributed to the success, not only of this team, but to the success of softball in the Delaware County area for about 40 years."His plaque is a replica of the plaque which will hang on the Wall of Honor at the Amateur Softball Association of Pennsylvania Hall of Fame in Sunbury.
