Sex offender charged after failing to report address change
A Lansford man has been charged for failure to comply with registration of sexual offender requirements.
The Lansford Police Department said that Christopher Vogel, 32, 411 E. Kline Ave., Apt. 1, has been charged for an incident that took place between June 1 and Aug. 13.
Vogel is charged with two counts of failure to comply with registration of sexual offender requirements.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Sgt. Jack Soberick of the Lansford Police Department:
Soberick was notified on or about July 24 by the Pennsylvania State Police/Megan's Law Unit that there was a subject that was last known to reside in the borough who had failed to verify his current address.
This subject was identified as Christopher J. Vogel, the address of record listed with both state police and Lansford Police was 149 W. Ridge St., Apt. A, in the borough.
However, the Megan's Law Unit had information that Vogel had moved and failed to properly update his information as requested.
Later on July 24, officer Jeff Tanner went to the address and confirmed that Vogel no longer resided there. Tanner later located Vogel at a friend's home in the borough, and spoke directly to Vogel.
It was learned that Vogel had moved from his last listed address over one month ago.
Vogel said he is now living at 411 E. Kline Ave. in Lansford.
Tanner advised Vogel that he was not in compliance with his Megan's Law registration requirements.
Vogel was also directed to go, as soon as possible, to the nearest Pennsylvania State Police barracks and update his information in order to be in compliance.
As of Aug. 13, Soberick checked with the Pennsylvania State Police Megan's Law Unit, and learned that Vogel had still failed to update his address and complete the requirements of his registration under the Megan's Law sections listed in the criminal complaint.
