Marian's Karnish signs with Misericordia University

Marian Catholic senior Brenna Karnish has committed to Misericordia University where she will continue her academic and athletic career.

Karnish will participate in basketball and track and field at Misericordia.Karnish excelled in both of those sports at Marian where she was a four-year varsity member.Karnish averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game this season for the Fillies basketball team. She finished her career with 827 points.Karnish was named to the Times News All-Star First Team each of the past two seasons. In 2015, she was a Schuylkill League Girls' Basketball All-Star selection and was chosen the top defensive player in Schuylkill League Division 3.Karnish helped lead the Fillies to three Schuylkill League Division 3 titles, as well as a District 11 championship in 2014. She was part of Fillies teams that compiled an 80-21 record during her four years on the teamIn track, Karnish went to states for discus in 2014 and 2015 and for the shot put in 2016. In 2015, she was a District 11 gold medalist in discus. She was also a two-time Schuylkill League medalist in 2014, and a three-time league medalist in 2015.The Lansford native is active in many school clubs such as National Honor Society, Student Ambassador, and FBLA, and aims to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy.She is the daughter of Glen and Jennifer Karnish of LansfordShe plans to be a doctor of physical therapy major at Misericordia.
