SHIPPENSBURG - Pleasant Valley's Michael Mitchell and Northern Lehigh's Jillian Olewine ended the first day of the PIAA Track and Field Championships with medals around their necks.

Mitchell placed fifth in the Class 3A triple jump with a leap of 45-02.00

Olewine was eighth in the Class 2A long jump with a mark of 17-03.00
