Ornament making
Children ages 13 to 18 are invited to the Palmerton Area Library from 6-7:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 to make Christmas ornaments for Ornaments for a Cause, a community event created by local photographer Lynn Shupp. This is a great way to earn volunteer time and bring cheer to the community. Call the library at 610-826-3424 for information and to sign up.
Knitting Club
The Knitting Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from 6-8 p.m. Monday. This club is for anyone interested in knitting or crocheting at any skill level. New members are always welcome.
Trunk or treat
Kids come out to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, at 9 a.m. on Sunday and take part in the trunk or treat Halloween celebration. All kids are welcome, St. John’s members as well as from the Palmerton and neighboring areas.
Parents join together to hand out candy to the trick or treaters.
Concourse Club
The Palmerton Concourse Club will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The program is How to Dress With Style, Looking Your Best & Incorporating Trends. The program will be presented by Nadia Karpov, Personal Stylist.
The Last Gasp
The Last Gasp, Safe Trick or Treat Night, will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Palmerton Area High School, 3513 Fireline Road, Palmerton. The event is hosted by the Palmerton FBLA and is open to children ages 0-11. For a cost of $5 for ages 2-11, activities include trick or treat in the classrooms, costume contest (prizes will be given), and Halloween-themed games. A bake sale with many treats will be held.
Model railroad
The Carbon Model Railroad Society Fall Train Meet will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Diamond Fire Company Fire Hall. There is an admission charge. Buy and sell model and toy trains — all gauges, books and railroadiania, private collections and dealers, test track and operating layouts. Refreshments available. Door prizes.
Basket raffle
Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold its annual basket raffle and bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Baskets to be raffled, holiday items, baked goods, soups, barbecue, hot dogs, halushki and beverages. Food to eat in or take out. Drawing will be at 2 p.m.
Filling sale
Jerusalem UCC, Trachsville, is holding its annual Thanksgiving filling sale. Order by Nov. 10 and pick up Nov. 17 or 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 610-681-4412 or 610-377-4936 for cost and information.
Breakfast
Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday at the Parryville Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2, 359 Main St. Platter choices include pancakes, French toast, SOS, eggs, omelets, or popular Fire House Mess. Choice of meats are bacon, ham, sausage or scrapple. Includes potatoes, juice and coffee. Large and small platters are available.
