Council meeting

Tamaqua Borough Council's next meeting will be held Wednesday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. The change in schedule is due to the May 18 Primary Election.Prior to the meeting, a second hearing will be held on potential uses for funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, including an additional $13,000. That hearing will begin at 7 p.m.Both meetings will be held in the council chambers of borough hall, 320 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. The public is welcome to attend.Legion auxiliaryThe Ladies Auxiliary of the Tamaqua American Legion, C.H. Berry Unit 173, will meet May 6, at 7:30 p.m., in the post home.Class of 1943The Tamaqua High School Class of 1943 is planning a reunion picnic for its 67th anniversary. The event will be held June 19 at the Owl Creek Reservoir Pavilion, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The menu will include traditional picnic items such as hamburgers, hot dogs and assorted soft drinks. Rodney Hall will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Primitive Methodist Church. A children's sermon will be included.Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m.First Steps, a support group for mothers with young children, meets the first Tuesday of every month, at 6 p.m., at Primitive Methodist Church.
