The Earth Speaks IV Exhibition at ARTSPACE Gallery April 6-28

“The Earth Speaks IV: A Juried Exhibition on the Environmental Crisis,” will be displayed April 6-28 in the ARTSPACE Gallery, 18 N. Seventh St., Stroudsburg. The Earth Speaks is an artist’s means of capturing their concern regarding the climate crisis and how it affects our planet, as well as an opportunity to offer possible solutions.

Sixty works were selected to be included in the show. Awards will be granted in various categories to those encapsulating the environmental crisis theme.

Juror for the show was Raymond Barnes, professor of Painting and Drawing at Muhlenberg College in Allentown. He is an exhibiting artist in the Lehigh Valley, New York and throughout the U.S.; a curator and co-curator of art exhibitions in the Lehigh Valley; and a juror of fine art exhibitions.

An artists’ reception is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. April 21. Awards will be presented and artists recognized at that time. Events of the day include a chalk drawing contest; informational talk from Standing Rock water protector and member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, Delwin Fiddler Jr.; musical performances by Renard Cohen; mini-talks on the environment by environmentalist Darryl Speicher and oceanographer and ESU professor James Hunt; poetry readings; and raffle drawings.

In addition, the Origins Gallery will be hosting a show, “A Voice for the Earth IV” Gifts of the Earth,” from 5 to 7 p.m., with refreshments and live music by Walter Lee.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 570-476-4460 or visit www.poconoarts.org.
