A Lansford man who was on the loose after escaping prison earlier this year has been apprehended.
Terry Phillips Jr., 44, was arraigned before District Judge Joseph Homanko Sr. of Weatherly on July 8 on a charge of escape and was returned to prison following his nearly two-month run of freedom.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Carl Breiner of the Nesquehoning Borough Police Department:
On May 21, Breiner spoke to Frank Shubeck, work release director for the Carbon County Correctional Facility, who said that Phillips was due to report back to prison a day earlier but never came back.
Phillips was incarcerated for a probation violation stemming from charges of theft by unlawful taking and simple assault.
He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing July 17 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
