Marian Catholic students attend FBLA conference

From April 7-10, 35 Marian Catholic High School students attended the 2019 Pennsylvania Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference, held at the Hershey Lodge, in Hershey.

There, each would compete against the top students in their respective competitive events, from all over the state. Students also attended various workshops encompassing a variety of topics that would help them in their future endeavors.

Maxwell Schwabe, a sophomore at Marian Catholic High School, previously held the state office of vice president at large. This year, he ran for the office of reporter.

He campaigned throughout the conference, and was successful in his bid for the position.

Two Marian Catholic High School students placed within the top 10 in their events. Thomas Betterly took fourth in Impromptu Speaking, and Maxwell Schwabe, eighth in Introduction to Business Presentation.

Betterly will now advance to FBLA nationals to compete.

Other awards awarded throughout the conference to Marian Catholic’s chapter were: Outstanding Chapter, Gold Seal Chapter and second place for 38.3 percent Market Share.

Ariel Stanalonis was also recognized for eighth place in Big 33 Community Service Hours, with 332 hours.

In addition, Marian received an award for the eighth most recorded service hours in the state.
