A Manhattan man was killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run in Mount Pocono.
According to reports on the scene, a man and woman were on Route 611, near the 5-point intersection and the man was struck by a southbound car. The incident occurred at 10 p.m. during a heavy rainfall.
Area bystanders performed CPR on the victim as he laid on the roadway until medics arrived on scene. Medics transported the man to Lehigh Valley-Pocono.
Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac said John Walpole, 55, died at 5:40 a.m. today in the Emergency Room at the hospital.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
According to reports from the scene, authorities are looking for a dark gray or silver car with heavy right front damage.
This is a pending investigation and no further information is available.
