The American Cancer Society will host a Look Good, Feel Better makeover workshop from 4-6 p.m., Sept. 27 at the Carbon/Tamaqua Unit Office, 33 W. Ridge St., Lansford.During the session, trained cosmetologists will meet with patients to discuss ways of using makeup and accessories to minimize appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.Look Good, Feel Better is offered in a group setting, providing participants with cancer education, information and support.Each woman will learn to apply makeup, using kits provided through the American Cancer Society's partnership with the Cosmetics, Toiletry and Fragrance Association and the National Cosmetology Association.Seating is limited, so registration is required. www.cancer.org.Senior newsThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met last week with 76 members in attendance. Vice President Doris Brobst conducted the business session. One new member, Joan Boner, was welcomed.Eleanor Roberts offered the invocation, entitled "Our Father Knows What's Best." Secretary Eleanor Schmerfeld provided a report. The membership total has reached 118. August and September birthdays will be celebrated at the Sept. 30 meeting.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join the senior's group.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Nursery care is provided. Broad St., this Thursday and Friday, from noon to 4 p.m. The class is designed for first-time attendees or those interested in a more in-depth presentation. The class is designed for drivers 50 years old and older and is classroom instruction only.Drivers completing the AARP driver safety course receive a certificate which entitles them to a rate reduction on auto insurance. The event has been rescheduled for this Wednesday, Sept. 22 and will feature the Christopher Dean Band.The concert, which will begin at 6 p.m. at the restored Tamaqua Train Station, is being sponsored by Bailey's Building Supplies.
