The Tamaqua Board of Health held its March meeting with Earl Boettger, James Gormley, Shirley Becker and Health Enforcement Officer James Barron in attendance.Barron reported inspecting the following locations in January and February: Pieracini's Market, M and I Deli, Tommy's Specialty Shop; Grande Pizza, Domino's Pizza, Burger King, St. Jerome's, Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center, Primitive Methodist Church, China Moon, Trinity United Church of Christ, Chili Dog, Luigi's Pizza, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, I Said Read Me Book Store, Tamaqua Diner, Hunan House, Oracle Body Shop and the Hang Loose Bar and Grill. He received and adjusted five complaints in January: two dog dirt, one no heat, one broken sewer line and one strong odor complaint. In February, the complaints included: two dog dirt, two no heat, one infestation and one home unfit for human habitation.TEPTOThe Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will meet March 14, at 6:30 p.m., in the school library. Prior to the regular meeting, parents of the fifth grade students will meet at 5:30 p.m. and discuss plans for the end of year dance.A dance for students in grades three through five will be held March 11, from 7-9 p.m., in the school gym. Cell phones are not allowed.Classes will be dismissed early March 15-17.An Indoor Family Night at the Movies is being planned for March 25. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the film presentation scheduled to start at 7 p.m.GriefShareA new GriefShare group is forming at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, scheduled to begin weekly meetings on March 16. GriefShare is a ministry to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. The Biblically based, non-denominational sessions will be held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. for a 13-week time period.Bethany EC is located at 223 E. Anyone interested in supporting the teams is welcome to attend.St. Jerome'sSt. Jerome's Office of Adult Formation will host a free coffee and donut social, followed by an informative session on "Annulments," this Sunday, at 9 a.m., in the alumni room.The Lenten schedule will include Holy Hour and confession, every Wednesday, following the 9 a.m. Mass, and Thursdays, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Stations of the Cross will be observed every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
