Walk for life

Care Net of Tamaqua, an organization providing services to pregnant women, plans to open an office in Tamaqua, at 223 E. Broad St.The center will provide life-affirming guidance, counseling, prenatal classes, parenting classes and much more to area women and families.The organization will sponsor a Walk For Life on April 2, beginning at 1 p.m.The route will begin at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, then head west on Broad Street to Odd Fellows Cemetery.Participants will then head east on Broad Street to to the Stone Gardens area before returning to the church.For more information, or a sponsorship package, call (570) 668-4059.Class of 1976The Tamaqua Area High School Class of 1976 will meet Sunday, March 6, at 7 p.m., at the home of Sandy Roberts Kleckner. All class members are welcome to attend.First MethodistThe Rev. James Cavalerro will officiate at two worship services Sunday: 9:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist, and 10:45 a.m. at First United Methodist Church. Both services will include Holy Communion.First Methodist activities for next week include: Monday, recovery program meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m., Worship Committee meeting at 6 p.m.; Wednesday, senior choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.A Lenten Christian Development Series will begin March 13 and run for six consecutive weeks. The 6 p.m. workshops will be preceded by covered dish socials.Plans are underway for the annual Tamaqua-Panther Valley Welsh Songfest, scheduled for March 13, 2 p.m. The event is sponsored annually by First Church. Brian Reading will officiate at Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a session of praise, worship and Bible study, in the evangelistic style, will be held at 6:30 p.m.An Ash Wednesday service will be held March 9, at 7:30 p.m., at Christ Church, McKeansburg. The service will be preceded by a hymnsing, beginning at 7:15 p.m.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev. Rodney Wells will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. The service will include Holy Communion.
