Four persons in pending criminal cases were placed on Thursday in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Dispositon (ARD) probation program for first time offenders by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if a person fails to complete the program or is revoked from it, the Commonwealth reserves the right ot prosecute them on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.The four, who were all placed for a year, included:Steven Allen Hartranft, 27, of Allentown, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on Nov. 23, 2010, along the Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Blvd., in Lehighon. Given a test, the result was .19BAC.He was ordered to pay $500 for the cost of the program, get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render 20 hours of community service and his license was suspended for 60 days.John William Hawk, 38, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Feb. 18 along Park St., in Weissport. He refused to submit to a test and will lose his license for a year.Nanvoic ordered he pay $450 for the program, get a D&A evalaution, and license suspended for another 60 days.Shannon Lee Hunsicker, 34, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of simple assault. She was arrested on Feb. 28 along Fairyland Rd., in Franklin Township. The listed victim of the assault was Jennifer Baylor.Nanvoic ordered her to pay $350 for the program, make restitution to be determined by the adult probation office, have no contact with the victim and render 15 hours of community service.Sarah Elizabeth Waydick, 23, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of DUI. She was arrested on Oct. 13, 2010, along Blakeslee Blvd., in Mahoning Township. Given a test, the result was .17BAC.She was ordered to pay $450 for the program, get a D&A evaluation, license suspended for 60 days and render three hours of community service per month while in the program.Each defendant must pay all court costs, which average over $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
