The condition of borough roads was the focus of discussion during Parryville’s council meeting on Monday night, as it had been at the previous meeting.

At last month’s meeting, residents raised concerns about the treacherous conditions of borough roads. Most have been neglected for over a decade due to a lack of funds or substantial tax base in the borough.

With the help of engineer Eric Snyder and the borough council of Parryville, some of those issues will be put to rest.

Parryville was the beneficiary of a $25,000 federal road grant and it has the money in hand. These funds will be used starting next month to fix potholes, road erosion, and create new drainage systems and boxes for runoff on lower Main Street.

Additionally, roads in the borough will be tar and chipped throughout this summer and will be triaged and repaired based on necessity and current conditions. Moving forward, the board approved the creation of a PLGIT checking account for future funds generated by road grants.
