A Weissport resident appeared at the monthly meeting of the Weissport Borough Council last evening on behalf of the taxpayers of the community.
Millard Wolfe presented council a petition bearing 100 signatures of residents opposed to the proposed purchase of the Koch property on Prospect Street. Council voted last month to buy the property for $2,500.
Original plans call for tearing down the house on the property and using the land to develop a small playground area for children living in the upper end of town.
Mayor Albert Lichty said a major sewer problem exists at the site.
