A flash flood watch continues through Tuesday for the region.

Showers and thunderstorms are forecast to bring periods of heavy rain to our region from this afternoon into early Tuesday morning. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected to be common, with local amounts up to 3 to 4 inches possible. This could lead to flash flooding.

The risk of flash flooding is highest in urbanized and low-lying areas. Rapid rises on small creeks and streams are possible.

Thunderstorms this afternoon and evening could produce severe weather with damaging winds being the biggest threat.

Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Low around 64. North wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of showers, mainly before 2 p.m. The rain could be heavy at times. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 79. North wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
