A Summit Hill soldier has been wounded in a land mine explosion in Vietnam, his parents were informed. It was reported that Richard McLaughlin, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clem McLaughlin, West Ludlow Street, lost part of one leg in the blast, in the northern area of South Vietnam. McLaughlin, a 1969 graduate of Panther Valley Area High School, left the United States on March 4 for overseas duty with the U.S. Army.
