Carbon County has been awarded $9,132 for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program from the Department of Homeland Security to the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The funding was made available to Carbon County by the State Set Aside Committee of the United Way of Pennsylvania.The Emergency Food and Shelter Program is nondisaster, supplemental funding. There is an administrative allowance of $183. This leaves $8,949 for food, shelter and utility funds providing such services here in Carbon County.The EFSP funding is open to all organizations helping hungry and homeless people. EFSP funds must be used to supplement feeding, sheltering (including transitional sheltering) and rent/mortgage and utility assistance efforts only. All agencies will need a Federal Employer Identification Number and the Data Universal Number System number issued by Dun & Bradstreet to receive these grant funds.Letters requesting funds must be received by Aug. 8.
