WILKES-BARRE (AP) — Police have charged a man with homicide and arson following a fire in Pennsylvania that claimed the lives of three children.
Twenty-six-year-old Preston Bonnett of Wilkes-Barre was arraigned Monday on two counts of criminal homicide and three counts of arson. Investigators say he set the blaze outside a home in Laflin last Wednesday.
Court records show Bonnett is the ex-boyfriend of the children’s mother, and he briefly lived at the home. Bonnett says he is innocent.
The family had surveillance cameras around the home, and police say one of the children told emergency dispatchers Bonnett was outside the home the night of the fire.
Bonnett was previously arrested on an existing warrant for unrelated charges.
