The Western Pocono Lions Club will meet at the Old Mill Pizza Restaurant in Sciota at tonight. They are asked to meet at the Chestnuthill Park in Brodheadsville at 9 a.m. Gloves, vests and bags will be provided.Packing timeOperation Touch of Home will hold its packing days for the spring shipment Friday (set up) and Saturday. Among the items to be included to the service personnel are Girl Scout cookies, candy, gum, beef jerky, etc.A tricky tray benefit will be held at Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert on Saturday. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.The next regular meeting of the group is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion Post Home in Gilbert.Give and take dayAs part of Chestnuthill's Township's Earth Day activities, Close the Loop Company will be coordinating a give and take day on Saturday at the Chestnuthill Township Park on Route 715. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. is time to give; from 1 to 4 p.m. is take time.Give and take days are a great way to re-use items that are no longer needed but are too good to throw away. Just bring any reusable items between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., then take away items from 1 to 4 p.m. Participants do not have to bring something to take something.Township residents can take electronics to the township recycling center at no charge.Also, a representative of the PPL Residential Retail Program with energy saving information on Energy Star lighting and appliances will attend. The representative will also have recycling buckets present for compact fluorescent bulbs only. Old CFL bulbs can be recycled free on Saturday.It is a rain or shine event. All proceeds benefit the planned leash-free dog park at the West End Regional Park.Piecemakers meetThe quilters and crafters at Cornerstone Community Church in Kresgeville will meet from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday. The Monroe County History Challenge will be held at 6 p.m. April 23 in Room 117 of Stroud Hall at East Stroudsburg University.The competition consists of four rounds of questions and will test knowledge on U.S. history, economics, geography, Pennsylvania history, local history and current events. There is an admission for children over 10 and adults. Admission for children under 10 is free. This is yearly event for the club. There will be sessions for massage, Reiki and readings There will also be a variety of holistic foods and items for sale, including organic pet foods.
