A solid pitching performance from Tyler Horton helped the Birches gain a 3-2 victory over Freemansburg.

Horton threw 6 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits and no earned runs while striking out three. Kory Kearns got the final out on a strikeout to earn the save.

Steve Olizarowics had a hit, run and RBI for the winners, while Adam McConnel also knocked in a run.

Carbon Monarchs

North Parkland broke a scoreless tie with two unearned runs in the top of the eighth inning to capture a 2-0 victory over the Carbon Monarchs.

Phillip Schoch went the distance for the winners, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out 11.

Carbon received a stellar outing from starter Brad Buzzard, who hurled seven frames and gave up two hits, walked four and struck out nine batters.

Ian Hubbard had both hits for the Monarchs, while Austin Imler had a hit and a run for North Parkland.
