It was a rough night for area Connie Mack teams Friday as Jim Thorpe and Northern Valley both suffered losses.

Jim Thorpe managed just three hits off Wilson pitching to suffered a 2-0 loss and end its six-game winning streak.
Nate Sompel pitched well in defeat, allowing just six hits and one earned run in his six innings of work. Sompel walked four and struck out four.
Thorpe received hits from Garret Lienhard, Jared Joyce and Chip Baldassano.

Northern Valley-Stroudsburg
Mark Ortiz had two hits and knocked in three runs to help Stroudsburg earn a 5-3 victory over Northern Valley.
The Chargers rallied for two runs in the seventh, but came up short of gaining a win.
Cole Hausman had two hits and scored two runs for NV, while Ryan Kensinger and Bejamin Boyer each had a pair of hits and an RBI. Riley Albert chipped in with a hit and knocked in a run.

Tamaqua-FT Maroon
Noah Wentz went 3-for-4 and knocked in five runs to power Franklin Township Maroon to a 16-5 victory over Tamaqua last Saturday.
Logan Bellis and Dominic Lawrence both collected a pair of hits for the winners. After Tamaqua scored four runs in the first two innings, Cody Snyder relieved and tossed 2 1/3 innings to earn the victory.

Grant Birnbaum pitched a two-hitter and struck out 10 batters to lead Franklin Township Maroon to an 11-1 win over Jim Thorpe last Sunday.
Birnbaum was perfect through three frames, before allowing two hits and a run in the fourth.
Cody Snyder and Noah Wentz each had two hits for FT Maroon, with Wentz ending the game via the 10-run rule when he beat out a bunt single, stole second and third, and scored on a passed ball.
The winners will face Anthracite on Thursday in the winner’s bracket final.
