ALLENTOWN (AP) — A prosecutor says two men killed in a noontime shooting at an intersection in the eastern Pennsylvania city of Allentown shot each other in a gang-related dispute.
Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin on Wednesday released results of an investigation of the Oct. 3 deaths of 24-year-old Keith Minick and 28-year-old Richard Vera.
Martin said Vera belonged to one gang, and another member of that gang is seen on video throwing a punch at Minick, a suspected member of another gang.
Minick and Vera then pulled guns and fired. Another gang member fired and may have hit his friend Vera in the leg; he faces firearms charges.
Investigators said a $40 drug debt was the immediate issue but the dispute was probably an ongoing struggle between the gangs for dominance.
