Carbon County court — DUI
Nine people entered guilty pleas on Friday to driving under the influence charges.
Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted pleas from the following:
Vincent Richard Denithorne
, 52, of Leola, Lancaster County, was arrested on July 1, 2017, along Route 209 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for placement in the county’s Intermediate Punishment Program — house arrest.
David William Roscos
, 39, of West Lawn, Berks County, was arrested on April 1, 2017, by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. A test revealed a 0.16 BAC.
A first offense, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.
Joshua Enfiel Bannister
, 23, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Sept. 10, 2016, along Petrarch Trail in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
James John Ward
, 38, of Warren, Warren County, was arrested on Nov. 23, 2016, along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
He was sentenced to serve 90 days to 60 months in prison, a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 100 hours of community service.
Ward, an inmate in the county prison on the charges, was given credit for 11 days already served.
Daniel Quaca
, 50, of Lehighton, was arrested on June 13, 2017, along Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.
Sentencing was deferred for Quaca to obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.
Danny Lee Edgar
, 34, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 30, 2017, by Lehighton police. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.
He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.
Joseph Rash
, 36, of Dallas, Luzerne County, was arrested on July 31, 2017, along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton, A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, found on him at the stop.
On the DUI count he was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service. On the drug count he was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI charge, and render an additional 50 hours of community service for a total of 75 hours.
He will serve the prison term staring at 9 a.m. Feb. 26.
Gerald M. Graham
, 43, of Bethlehem, was arrested on Jan. 2, 2016, along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so Graham can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Ryan John Lakata
, 26, of Weatherly, was arrested on June 18, 2016, along Broad Street in Beaver Meadows by state police at Hazleton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so Lakata can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole or probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
