Abe Foreman, president of Isaac Weiner Inc., Pottsville, which is dismantling the interior of the Lansford No. 6 Breaker, reported only machinery and sellable scrap will be taken out of the building, which will be kept intact.
Foreman said recent wildcat strikes at several steel plants and the threat of a general steel strike have been holding up shipment of the scrap salvaged and has bogged down work at the Lansford breaker, one of the largest in the anthracite region.
Approximately 25 men are employed by the Pottsville men in the salvage work. Weiner also tore down the Nesquehoning and No. 14 breakers.
