Jury must decide LV baseball bat slaying case

ALLENTOWN (AP) — A jury must now decide the fate of a man charged in the baseball bat beating death of another man in his former girlfriend’s Pennsylvania apartment.

The (Allentown) Morning Call reports that closing arguments were delivered Wednesday in the trial of 34-year-old Larry Yaw Jr. in the April 2016 slaying of 44-year-old Brian Frank.

Prosecutors in Lehigh County allege that Yaw kicked in the door to the woman’s unit and hit Frank at least twice in the head with an aluminum baseball bat.

Defense attorney Matthew Potts questioned the credibility of a witness’s testimony and said any conviction should be limited to third-degree murder, since he argued that the killing wasn’t premeditated.

A prosecutor called Yaw “a cold individual” who “has no issue with trying to manipulate the justice system.”
