A Lower Towamensing Township businessman wants to increase the height of his structure.

Jeffrey Nichols, Keystone Pellet, Inc., is scheduled to go before the township's Zoning Hearing Board at 7 p.m. Nov. 17.

At that time, Nichols will request a variance from section 494 of the zoning ordinance, which limits the height of structures in the industrial zoning district to 40 feet.

An addition with an overall height of 53.8-feet is proposed for the property, located at 2115 Little Gap Road, Palmerton.

Nichols previously had his request rejected by township zoning officer Duane Dellecker.

In his rejection dated Sept. 29, Dellecker noted Nichols' request was to alter the exterior of the structure to add a tension membrane "Hercules Truss Arch" structure for storage off the west side of the main building with a proposed height of 42.8 feet on a base of 11 feet in height would bring the total height to 53.8 feet.

That, Dellecker said, conflicts with the zoning ordinance, which limits the height of structures in the industrial zoning district to 40 feet.
