After nearly 1½ years of negotiations, the Jim Thorpe School Board and the Jim Thorpe Education Association approved a tentative contract at their respective meetings yesterday.
The agreement, which includes a 10.7 percent increase in teachers’ salaries in each of the next four years, was accepted by six of the nine school directors.
The new pact will push the annual payroll from $2,094,620 during 1989-90 (the final year of the last contract) to $2,930,675 at the end of the new pact.
Average salaries will escalate from $31,311.18 during 1989-90 to $42,362.43 in the 1993-94 term.
Also included in the new contract is the extension of the school day by 30 minutes.
