Grundsow Lodge History

The Monday meeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will feature a talk by Bob Andrews on the history of the Grundsow Lodge. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Knight’s Gallery (second floor) of the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave. The meeting is open to the public without cost or obligation.

Block shoot

A Block shoot will be held at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. This event is open to the public and is smoke-free.

Breakfast

The Towamensing Volunteer Fire Company, 105 Firehouse Road, Palmerton (Trachsville), will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu includes scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, ham, pancakes, cream chipped beef, juice, milk, coffee and tea.

Spring sing

A spring sing evening class hosted by Rachel’s Music Together will be held at the Palmerton Area Library on April 11 from 6-6:45 p.m. Join together and sing and dance into spring. Bring you children ages birth through age 5 for a free fun-filled 45-minute music and movement class. Call the library at 610-826-3424 for information.

‘Sound of Music’

“The Sound of Music” will be presented by the Palmerton High School Drama Club Thursday, Friday and Saturday April 12, 13, and 14 from 7-9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. each day. Tickets are sold at the door. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students. The Parents Association will be selling candygrams, flowers, T-shirts and show posters. A 15-minute intermission will be held and refreshments will be available.

Plan to attend this spectacular event at the Palmerton Area High School, 3529 Fireline Road and support the drama club.

Class of 2018

A parents meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Palmerton Borough Hall.

Resume building basics

Learn how to write a resume at the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave. on April 23 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This is free, however you must register by calling the library at 610-826-3424. Space is limited.

Concourse Club

The program for Thursday’s meeting of the Concourse Club of Palmerton will be by Bear Mountain Butterflies. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fireline Road, Palmerton. Meet the “Butterfly Lady” Mari Gruber. She will speak about experiencing the wonder of live butterflies and exotic frogs in Jim Thorpe’s unique hand-on education center.

Community meal

A free community meal will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. on April 10 at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. Plan to attend for a free meal and fellowship.

Family history

Do you know who your family is? Here’s your chance to find out. Come to the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave. on April 10 from 6-7:30 p.m. to learn how to research you family history. This group meets the second Tuesday of each month.

Library bus trip

The Palmerton Area Library is sponsoring a bus trip to One Liberty Observation Deck and the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia on April 21. The bus leaves Palmerton at 7:45 a.m. and returns at 6 p.m. Call the library at 610-826-3424 for information.
