Nesquehoning residents can begin preparing candy bags for a week of Halloween activities.
On Wednesday, councilwoman Rosemary Porembo read a letter from Suzanne Smith regarding the second annual Trunk or Treat event.
Nesquehoning residents and their families are invited to participate in the Trunk or Treat, which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26 on the grounds of the Nesquehoning Hose Company on the east end of the borough.
Smith invites any business or resident who would like to participate by decorating a vehicle trunk and giving out candy at the event or making a donation to contact the borough office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Anyone wishing to participate needs to sign up before the event.
Trunk or Treat began last year after a group of residents wanted to offer an alternative for trick-or-treaters that was centralized and safe.
The turnout at the event was better than anticipated.
In a related Halloween matter, Mayor Sam Kitchko and borough council announced that in addition to Trunk or Treat, trick or treat in the borough will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31.
Anyone wishing to give out treats to the kids can do so by turning on their porch light.
