Local Baseball Roundup: Results from June 22-23

Jim Thorpe posted an impressive win in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack action on Sunday.

The Carbon Monarchs split two games in Lehigh Valley Legion play over the weekend.

Jim Thorpe cruised to a 12-1 win over Pen Argyl in a Lehigh Valley Connie Mack game.

DJ Richebacher threw a complete game one-hitter, striking out four, for Jim Thorpe (6-4). Richebacher also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Noah Rosahac finished 3-for-4, driving in two runs for the winners, while Brandon Fasolino singled, doubled, and had two RBIs, and Jared Joyce drove in three runs.

Nazareth topped Northern Valley 6-1 in Lehigh Valley Connie Mack action.

Ashton Johnson tallied two hits and knocked in two runs for Nazareth. Johnson also pitched five innings, striking out five, surrendering five hits and one walk. Collin Grohotolski added a double among his two hits and an RBI, while Josh Braido (1-for-3) drove in two runs.

Chase Misera (1-for-2) tripled, and Josh Kistler (1-for-3) added a double for Northern Valley (5-5), which saw six different players record hits.

Allentown

The Carbon Monarchs rolled to a 12-4 win over Allentown in a Lehigh Valley Legion contest Saturday.

The Monarchs built an 8-2 lead after three innings. Brad Buzzard (two runs scored) and Noah Snisky (one run scored, two walks) both had two hits and drove in a run. Mason Barndt (1-for-2), Drew Frank (1-for-3) and Jake Taras all scored two runs for the Monarchs, who drew took advantage of 15 walks and seven errors in the win.

Emmaus-Carbon Monarchs

Emmaus pulled away late to secure a 15-6 Lehigh Valley Legion win over the Carbon Monarchs on Sunday.

Austin McEllroy was 3-for-5, including two triples, and four RBIs for Emmaus, which erupted for eight runs in the top of the seventh inning to blow open a one-run game. Brandon Ward added three hits and three RBIs for the winners, while Jimmy Braxmeier (four runs scored) and Matthew Madigan (three runs scored) had two hits and two RBIs apiece.

Noah Snisky doubled among his two hits and scored twice for the Monarchs (4-3), who led 6-2 after the first two innings. Brad Buzzard added a triple and drove in three runs.

North Parkland held off Northern Valley for a 9-7 win in Lehigh Valley Legion action Saturday.

Dylan Snyder was 3-for-4 with a double for North Parkland. Phillip Schoch (double, RBI, run scored), Austin Imler (RBI, run scored) and Luke Dauberman (RBI) had two hits apiece for the winners, while Collin Duff (1-for-4) had a run scored and two RBIs.

Nick Henry (two runs scored), Derek Holmes (two runs scored), Ryan King (RBI) and Justin Holmes (run scored) had two hits apiece for Northern Valley, which rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Eric Nothstein walked twice and drove in three runs.

Hamburg Reds

The Hamburg Reds swept a doubleheader against the Tamaqua Blue Sox in Schuylkill Berks Legion play Saturday.

The Reds posted a 6-0 shutout in the first game, and rolled to a 9-2 victory in the second contest.

Owen Zimmerman socked a two-run homer for the Reds, and Sean Evangelista tossed a one-hitter, striking out four, in the opener.

Zach Fannock had the Blue Sox (0-10) only hit.

Tarick Feick was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored for Hamburg in the second game. Jared Sterner tallied two hits and scored twice, while Hunter Shuey struck out 10 on the mound.

Michael Steigerwalt paced Tamaqua with two hits and two RBIs in Game 2.

Hellertown pushed across two runs in the sixth inning to pull out a 4-3 victory over Berlinsville.

The Braves, who dropped to 5-9, received a home run and three RBIs from Austin Mueller while Northwestern graduate Jake Augustus added a hit and two runs.

Paul Roth finished with three hits and two runs for the Royals (5-8).

Lansford-Frackville

Lansford used a seven-run fourth inning Saturday to pull away from Frackville and post a 10-2 victory in the league’s quarterfinal playoff round.

Stephen Hood had two hits, one a double, while Michael Pascoe added a pair of hits.

Lansford sent 12 men to the plate in the fourth to break open a 3-2 game. Pascoe and Hood both had two-run hits during the frame, with Brad Hood and Tyler Black adding RBI hits.

The victory now sends Lansford into Tuesday’s semifinal round, where it will face Schuylkill Valley.

Tamaqua-FT Maroon

Noah Wentz had three hits and knocked in five runs Saturday to help Franklin Township Maroon gain a 16-5 victory over Tamaqua.

Logan Bellis and Dominic Lawrence each added two hits for the winners.

Cody Snyder pitched 2 1/3 innings of solid relief after Tamaqua had scored four runs over the first two innings.

Jim Thorpe-FT Maroon

Grant Birnbaum pitched a two-hitter and struck out 10 batters on Sunday to lead Franklin Township Marron to an 11-1 victory over Jim Thorpe.

Birnbaum was perfect through three frames before Thorpe got its two hits in the fourth.

Cody Snyder and Noah Wentz both had two hits to pace the FT offensive attack.
