In celebration of "Chamber of Commerce Month," Carbon County Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to attend its Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation on Monday, Oct. 26 at Penn's Peak, 325 Maury Road, Thorpe.
Cocktail hour is 5:30 p.m. and dinner is 6:30 p.m. Reservations should be made by Oct. 19 by calling (610) 379-5000. The dinner is open to anyone.CCCC service theme is "We help to make the Carbon County area a better place to live, learn, work, and play." The chamber hosts the annual event to thank and honor those community leaders who help create a better world ÿ by starting right here in their own backyard.Regional Councils of CCCC will have the opportunity to thank local community leaders by presenting them with awards of recognition.The following community leaders are being honored this year: Jim Thorpe area, Jim Thorpe Lions Club, Service Club Organization of the Year Award; Lehighton area, Sheila Knappenberger, Volunteer of the Year Award; Palmerton area, Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, Carbon County, Citizen of the Year Award; Panther Valley area, Charles DePuy, Teacher of the Year Award; Penn-Kidder area, David Althouse, Outstanding Leadership Award; and Weatherly area, Rotary Club of Weatherly, Service Club Organization of the Year Award."The Spirit of Carbon County Award is being presented by CCCC to recognize and honor Sheila Knappenberger, a Carbon County businessperson who has simultaneously been instrumental in operating a successful business while actively promoting the area, endeavoring to make our Carbon County community a better place to live, learn, work, and play," said Mike Heery, executive director and president of the CCCC.Knappenberger, is a senior accountant with Buckno Lisicky & Company.
