Oh, the weather outside is frightful...but don't panic.

Carbon and Monroe counties are under a winter weather advisory and expecting anywhere from 1-4 inches of snow between noon today and 6 a.m. Friday, said meteorologist Kristin Kline of the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J.With the developing coastal storm, we'll see rain spread into area today. Temperatures will fall, and the rain will change to snow later this afternoon," she said. The snow could accumulate about an inch in the higher elevations by tonight. The early morning hours could see another inch or two. By 6 a.m. Friday, we could see 1-4 inches of snow,. mainly over the higher elevations. We could have some slushy accummulations on roadways, but the snow will mostly be on the grassy areas."People are going to want to plan on extra driving time tomorrow. If you don't have to drive, stay home,"she said.This winter should be about average as far as temperatures and precipitation, Kline said.With this storm moving in, we're seeing below normal temperatures. But it isn't unheard of to have temperatures this cold - it kind of feels more like November," Kline said.At 8:30 a.m. today, the temperature at the Mt. Pocono airport was 34 degrees. Today's high is expected to reach the upper 30s to low 40s. 'It's definitely going to be chilly," Kline said.
