The Palmerton Area School Board took the following action at its meeting Tuesday night:
• Approved the first reading of the professional development policy.
• Approved the replacement of the Towamensing Elementary playground fence proposal for $9,170 to be paid for out of the facility operating budget.
• Accepted the resignation of Kathy Siekonic from the substitute list.
• Accepted the retirement of Francis Tartar from his position as lead custodian at S.S. Palmer Elementary.
• Accepted Bonnie Dommel and Albert Dommel as substitute instructional assistants.
• Approved Linda Smith as a three-hour cafe worker at the high school at the rate of $13.06 per hour.
• Approved Craig Borland as a volunteer adviser for the International Travelers’ Club for the 2019-20 school year.
• Approved the resignation of Eli DeSocio from his position as a custodian.
• Approved Joshua Gibbs as the lead custodian at S.S. Palmer.
• Appointed Kathy Fallow as voting delegate at the Pennsylvania School Boards Association delegate assembly held on Oct. 18.
• Approved the Volunteer Buddies Club.
• Approved the Bayada Nursing contract for the 2019-20 school year.
• Approved the $1,000 donation from Walmart for the Drama Club.
• Approved the High School Environmental Club’s field trip to Gettysburg National Military Park on Nov. 7 at the cost of two substitute teachers.
• Approved the agreement with James R. Schwab for behavioral intervention and counseling for the 2019-20 school year, at the rate of $100 per hour as needed.
