A search for two missing Carbon County residents, who are reportedly mentally challenged, was called off last night by state police and the county emergency management agency.

State police at Fern Ridge identified the two as Donna Marie Kiernan, 19, and Charles Ray Lockard, 18.The two left a home along Lenape Trail in Penn Forest Township, about 6:30 p.m. on Friday.On Saturday and Sunday troopers and the county's emergency management agency coordinator, Mark Nalesnik, organized a search for the pair. The search group included emergency management workers, firefighters and residents. The search was conducted at the large Indian Mountain Lakes development in the township. The searches also crossed over into Tunkhannock Township in Monroe County.Nalesnik said the search was called off about 2 a.m. on Sunday then resumed again later in the day. The Sunday search ended about 8:15 p.m. when officials became concerned about darkness and the large amount of people in the thick wooded area searching for the two.Nalesnik said he had about 95 people in the search party on Sunday. He said a thorough search was conducted.According to reports, family members told troopers that Lockard and Kiernan had learning disabilities.Some reports indicated that the two were girlfriend and boyfriend, but Nalesnik said the two "are very close friends."Nalesnik said state police are continuing to conduct an investigation into the incident and now considers the pair possible runaways.Lockard is described as being 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with blue eyes and brown hair. He was wearing a black hat with a skull on the side of it, green and white hoodie, black shirt with "AC/DC" on the front, blue jeans, gray and white sneakers and a black wallet with a chain attached.Kiernan was wearing blue jeans, a gray hoodie with "West Coast Choppers" on it, and black and pink sneakers.Anyone with information concerning the two is asked to call troopers at (570) 646-2271.
