A Lansford woman accused of threatening several neighbors with a large knife after they alerted authorities when she allegedly abandoned her child is free on unsecured bail.

Ashly Tansley, 20, of 149 W. Ridge St., who waived her right to a preliminary hearing, must live with her mother in Palmerton, have no contact with the victims, undergo a mental health evaluation and register with the Carbon County Adult Probation office, District Judge Casimir Kosciolek ruled Wednesday.If she fails to fulfill the conditions, she would be jailed under the original $250,000 straight cash bail.Tansley is charged with eight counts of felony aggravated assault; four counts of terroristic threats and eight counts of simple assault. She is also charged with resisting arrest; institutional vandalism; and a summary count of criminal mischief.The ruling followed about an hour of private conferences among Kosciolek, police officers Robert Shubeck, Jeff Ohl, Assistant District Attorney William McDonald and Tansley and her court-appointed lawyer, Atty. Angela Stehle.The conferences also at times included the four victims.Tansley, who arrived at the hearing cuffed and in prison blues, sat on the front porch of Kosciolek's office smoking and talking with family members. Outside the courtroom, she told the victims that she was sorry and didn't remember anything about the incident.According to an affidavit of probable cause, police responded to a call at 1:42 a.m. Sept. 30 about a woman with a knife. At the apartment building, they spoke with victims Joshua Pruitt, Amanda Rehrig, Crylinne Sheppard and Cynthia Cauthen, who identified the woman as Tansley and said they were talking with Tansley's grandmother in Tansley's apartment. About an hour before, they had called police because Tansley allegedly abandoned her child and the grandmother had to be called.According to the affidavit, Pruitt and Cauthen told police that Tansley came into the apartment with a large knife and ran toward Cauthen, swinging the knife and yelling, "I'm going to (expletive) stab you, you fat (expletive)."When Pruitt tried to protect Cauthen, Tansley swung the knife at his face, yelling that she would "cut both their throats for calling the cops." Tansley then threatened Rehrig and Sheppard, yelling "you (expletive) are dead tonight."Tansley ran outside, where she again swung the knife toward Pruitt, who was able to wrest it away, cutting his finger.When police went into Tansley's apartment to arrest her, she fought with them. they placed her in the back of the cruiser, where she screamed obscenities at the victims and kicked and damaged the window.On May 8, Tansley had been cited for disorderly conduct after an incident at 1:15 a.m. at Chestnut and Bertsch streets.
