Oct. 7, 1978: Chester Frey of Lehighton R. 2 was named the "Driver of the Year" of the Lehighton terminal of Interstate Dress Carriers Inc., during a safety meeting of the firm held in Allentown. Frey has driven for IDC for the past 14 years without a chargeable accident. Leon Gombert of Lehighton received the non-driver "Employee of the Year" award. He is a driver's helper and has been an employee of the firm for 28 years.
