Walnutport has reapplied for a grant for a bandshell.
Borough council recently approved a resolution to apply for a grant for a portable bandshell.
Borough grant coordinator Michael Wentz said that council has applied for Lehigh Northampton Local Share Account funds in the amount of $130,000.
Council’s decision to reapply for the grant comes several months after its previous attempt to secure funding for a bandshell was turned down.
In April, Wentz informed council that the LSA funding was released, and the borough’s grant request for $125,000 was denied.
Wentz said at that time they changed the criteria, and that the borough’s grant was denied because its request was not deemed a necessity for infrastructure.
He noted that this year, recreational activities is on the list, as opposed to last year, when they didn’t have recreation as a priority.
Wentz said at that time that he wouldn’t mind putting in again for the funding for a bandshell through another means.
