Criminals who entered a Schuylkill County service station failed to get away with a large quantity of cigarettes. It was one of several incidents investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven over the past weekend, including the theft of a valuable vehicle.
Troopers said the Mount Carbon Getty station, located at 1074 SR61, in North Manheim Township, was forcibly entered about 4:35 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, and removed was about 723 packs of cigarettes valued at $4,000, a Sony camera, plus lottery tickets valued at $4,630. Troopers said all of the items were recovered at the scene.Troopers are investigating a theft of a vehicle incident. Troopers said unknown criminals entered a pole building at 39 S. Greenview Drive, North Manheim Township, and removed a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette that was parked inside and owned Wayne Yeich, of Landingville.The vehicle is two-toned, light silver on top and dark silver on the bottom and has a classic state registration plate of 90534. The vehicle is valued at $26,000. The theft occurred sometime between Sept. 3 at 5 p.m. and Sept. 4 at 11:30 a.m.Troopers are probing a theft incident at the home of David William Sites, 1540 SR61, Orwigsburg, West Brunswick Township. Troopers said unknown criminals came to the residence and by unknown means removed a Pioneer black log splitter located at the rear of the home, which is in front of the Enrst Truck parking lot. The theft occurred sometime between midnight on Sept. 5 and 9 a.m. on Sept. 7.Nelson Moyer, 40, of Schuylkill Haven, reported that someone damaged about $100 worth of corn plants in a field between Deiberts Valley Road and Lake Wynonah, South Manheim Township. The incident occurred sometime between Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at (570) 593-2000.
