A Tamaqua man who reportedly broke into a woman's apartment suffered a stab wound on Saturday afternoon. He then found himself lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.

Officers were dispatched to the pool room on Mauch Chunk Street at 5:04 p.m. to assist with an ambulance call for a reported stabbing. They found Robert Thaddeus Morris, 55, of 18 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, suffering from a knife wound to the abdomen. Morris was uncooperative and appeared to be highly intoxicated. He was transported to Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for treatment.As officers investigated, they learned Morris had reportedly threatened a woman who resides in the same apartment building, taking issue with the woman and a man she was dating. He allegedly threatened to disfigure the woman's face and kill the male, showing the woman what appeared to be a brown handled knife. The woman left the area and entered her apartment.Morris followed the woman and attempted to gain entry to her residence. Despite a dresser being placed in front of the door, Morris was able to make his way inside. The woman was holding a knife and, according to the police report, Morris walked into the knife. He then fled back to his own apartment.After being released from the hospital, Morris was charged with felony counts of burglary, aggravated assault and criminal trespass, as well as misdemeanor counts of simple assault, making terrorostic threats and harassment. He was arraigned before duty District Judge James Reiley, who set bail at $25,000. Unable to post bond, Morris was incarcerated.
