Panther Valley Elementary School is set to receive a grant to help fund a new playground for students.
Now, the school is hoping to engage the community to raise the remaining funds to get new equipment for students. A planning meeting is scheduled for Thursday night.
PVES has been selected for a $15,000 grant from the nonprofit Kaboom! and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.
Kaboom! is a nonprofit dedicated to giving all children a place to play, especially those growing up in poverty.
The grant is expected to fund a lot, but not all of the expenses associated with the new playground. The equipment will serve the roughly 500 students in grades K-3 at PVE.
The school is inviting parents and members of the community to attend a meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the school’s library.
