Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met March 26 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 45 members in attendance. Two new members were welcomed, Elaine Truskey and Jane McLaughlin.President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business session. Chaplain Kathleen Valentine provided the invocation. A moment of silence was observed in memory of Raymond Zellner.Reports were offered by treasurer Shirley Becker and secretary Gloria Gerhard. Betty Toro and Penny Schlorf were welcomed back to the group. The bus for the trip to Knoebel's Grove has been filled.Birthday greetings were extended to Betty Toro. Edna Romanick and Doris Brobst donated items which were then presented to select members. The meeting ended with social games.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, at the fire company. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.McCann scholarshipsThe Pottsville Campus of the McCann School of Business and Technology is accepting scholarship applications from members of the high school class of 2013. The Academic Excellence Scholarship is worth 50 percent of a student's tuition.
