Theater auditions

The Tamaqua Area Community Theatre will be holding open auditions this weekend for the holiday production "Toy School." There are openings for actors between the ages of 6 and 21.Auditions will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. this Saturday and 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St.The show's premise centers around the need for Santa's toys to go to school and learn how to be toys before Santa can safely deliver them into the hands of little boys and girls.Prepared monologues are available for the audition process. No prior acting experience is required.Help will also be needed to prepare sets and operate lighting. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Service will include Holy Communion. Sunday school classes will meet at 10:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 10:30 a.m.Next week's activities include: Thursday, Angel Choir meets at 6 p.m., Shepherd Choir rehearses at 6:30 p.m. and Chancel Choir practice is at 7:30 p.m.St. Peter's UnionSunday worship services are held at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. This Sunday's service will include a Hymn Sing. Sunday School will be held at 10:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 1 p.m.; Daisies and Brownies will meet at 6 p.m.Activities for next week will include: Monday, play practice at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, apple dumpling pick up from noon to 5 p.m., prayer group will meet at 4:45 p.m.The choir rehearses on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: junior choir at 7 p.m. and senior choir at 7:30 p.m.Reformation Sunday will be observed next Sunday. Dr. Edward Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a time of praise, worship and Bible study will be held at 6:30 p.m. Family fun night, including pumpkin carving will be held at 7 p.m. Participants are to bring their own carving tools.An hour of prayer and praise is held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.Zion LewistownThe Rev. Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley.The service will include special music and be followed by a covered dish meal.
