Schuylkill County Judge Jacqueline L. Russell has sent two area men to jail.
Jose Contes
, 29, of McAdoo, was charged by Rush Township police with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on June 20, 2017.
Russell sentenced him to six to 23 months in prison and 20 hours of community service.
Charges of conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and a second count of possession of drug paraphernalia were dropped.
Raymond Papaj Jr.
, 42, of West Hazleton, was charged by McAdoo police with driving under the influence and careless driving on Oct. 15, 2016.
Russell sentenced him to 48 hours to six months in jail, fined him $500, and ordered him to perform 10 hours of community service.
Papaj’s license was suspended for one year.
Nathaniel M. L. Salter
, 26, of Hawk Run, Clearfield County, was charged with burglary, receiving stolen property, two counts of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of motor/other vehicles, theft from a motor vehicle, and criminal mischief — damage property on July 7, 2016.
President Judge William E. Baldwin sentenced him to two to four years in state prison.
Daryl L. Greenawalt
, 55, of Lansford, was charged by Coaldale police with driving under the influence on Nov. 12, 2016, and again on Feb. 21, 2017.
Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin ordered him to serve six months to five years in state prison. He also must pay $1,885 in fines and perform 30 hours of community service.
Dolbin handed down the sentence after determining that Greenawalt had violated the terms of his placement in the intermediate punishment program.
Greenawalt had pleaded guilty on Jan. 17 to driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lane and seat belt violation in one case and DUI, disregarding traffic lane and following too closely in the other.
Charges of careless driving and failure to use low beams were dropped.
Brett T. Rodriguez
, 39, of Ashland, was charged by Coaldale police with resisting arrest, having a controlled substance, having drug paraphernalia, harassment, simple assault and aggravated assault on Feb. 8, 2016.
On Feb 2, 2017, he was sentenced to four to 12 months on the paraphernalia, drug, and resisting charges. The other charges were dropped.
He was paroled on Jan. 26, 2018. Judge James P. Goodman revoked that status on May 21.
Michael C. Hill
, 26, of Tamaqua, was charged by Coaldale police with theft by unlawful taking-movable property and unauthorized use of motor/other vehicles on March 30, 2017.
He pleaded guilty on Nov. 29, 2017, to charges in two cases, and was sentenced to up to 23 months in jail on the unauthorized use charge.
Goodman revoked his parole on May 21, sending him back to jail. His new maximum release date is Oct. 19, 2019. Hill can apply for parole again after Oct. 18, 2018.
