Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced the menu for June 11 to 15.

Monday: Pepper steak and brown rice or pesto chicken sandwich

Tuesday: Waldorf salad with chicken, roll and pickled cabbage

Wednesday: Broccoli soup, barbecue chicken sandwich and potato wedges

Thursday: Roast turkey and sweet potatoes or meatloaf sandwich

Friday: Pork chop and roasted potatoes or Cuban sandwich

The Panther Valley Senior Center has also announced upcoming events for June 11 to 15.

Nickel-Keeno on June 11 at 11 a.m.; Game Day on June 12 at 11 a.m.; Birthday and Bingo on June 13 at 11 a.m.; Women’s Pool and Men’s Cards on June 14 at 10:30 a.m.; Mother’s and Father’s Day celebration on June 15 at 11 a.m.

Golden Agers

The First Meeting of the Year for Panther Valley Golden Agers was held May 14th with 26 members attending. The meeting was opened by President Irene Hudasky with the singing of “God Bless America” and the Pledge of Allegiance.

The group will hold two indoor picnics with the first scheduled for July 9 along with a Chinese auction. Other events will be announced at a later date. The meeting ended with the Our Father and the reading of “Only Mother” in honor of Mother’s Day.

The next meeting will be held on Monday at St. John Slovak Lutheran Church Social Hall beginning at 1 p.m. Bingo is scheduled.

Summit Hill

Free concert

The Cressona Community Band will be performing a free concert in Summit Hill’s Ludlow Park at 7 p.m. June 20.

The show will include a variety of patriotic songs, songs of yesteryear and others.

The public is welcome to attend and bring lawn chairs.

The Cressona Band is a nonprofit organization consisting of musicians of all ages from Carbon, Schuylkill and surrounding counties. The band rehearses and performs from April until September.
