Carbon County court – DUI
Seven people entered guilty pleas on Monday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence charges.
Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:
Robyn Lynn Conklin
, 20, of Palmerton, was arrested on Nov. 15, 2017, by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Serfass sentenced her to serve 90 days to 60 months in prison, a fine of $1,500, 18-month license suspension and render 100 hours of community service.
She will begin the jail term at 6 p.m. on Dec. 14 and serve it on consecutive, two-day weekends.
Brad Allen Begel
, 57, of Lehighton, was arrested on Aug. 20, 2016, by Lehighton police along Route 209. He refused a test.
Sentencing was deferred.
James Joseph Golab
, 49, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 18 by Lehighton police along Bridge Street. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so Golab can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Stephen Hudock,
52, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on March 7 by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. He refused a test.
He also pleaded to one count of driving while under suspension - DUI related.
Serfass told him he faces a mandatory one year in jail on the DUI charge.
Sentencing was deferred so Hudock can get a drug and alcohol evaluation.
He is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison awaiting sentencing on another DUI count in January.
Kristopher Mikel Green
, 36, of Palmerton, was arrested on Feb. 23, 2016, by Lehighton police along Bridge Street. A test revealed a 0.22 BAC.
Serfass sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service.
He began the jail term immediately.
Marissa Sue Schultz
, 29, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Aug. 6, 2016, by Lehighton police along the Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC. She was previously placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it.
A first offense, Serfass placed her on probation for six months and ordered her to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.
Scott Jay Gangaway
, 42, of Lehighton, was arrested on April 23 along Route 443 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
Sentencing was deferred so Gangaway can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
